About
My name is Guinny Renwick (G.Reni)
The mind, body, and spirit are all interconnected and directly impact the health status of each. This dictated the Artist's path.
Guinny Renwick is an Artist located in Detroit, who grew up in the Midwest and the UK. Renwick means “ravens’ sitting on the river bend”. They are in their senior year at College for Creative Studies, and are currently pursuing their BFA in Studio Art and Crafts, with a minor in Art Therapy. Guinny makes art from the perspective of navigating the western medical system as a patient who is chronically ill. After CCS they hope to attend graduate school to become a licensed art therapist. In the future, as an art therapist Guinny hopes to one day help other disabled patients cope with their own bodies and to give them a personal sense of agency using color and care as tools. In addition to working in a hospital, Guinny plans to continue their gallery work centered around: defending dignity, agency, and autonomy in the chronically ill and disabled body, and the desire to inject care into western medicine.
